Headers 2000 SSEi

Post by analogkid455 »

I have looked high and low for headers and can't find any. Did a search here and found plenty of suggestions but when I search for them on the web I find out they don't make them anymore. So, is there anyone making headers for our cars at this time?

Anything that is marketed for the 3800 will fit, even if it says Grand Prix or Impala, etc.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/325276995757

or ZZP has several options like their stainless headers: https://zzperformance.com/collections/3 ... 8c55&_ss=c

or their power logs: https://zzperformance.com/collections/3 ... 8c55&_ss=c

Oh, exellent! Thank you! Was looking at the ZZP headers and wasn't sure it would work on our cars. I guess they have a downpipe for our Bonnies?

Yes they do. You'll have much more benefit over full headers though.

Has anyone ever seen a set of headers that instead of wrapping around the block and ontop of the trans to meet the other side, it instead goes directly down and underneath the engine? I had seen a picture awhile back of a bonneville with this setup, and im tempted.

Even if you removed the AC compressor and/or got a smaller starter to make that work, the oil pan is in the way. I don't remember ever seeing this in the past 20 years. Japanese cars do this all the time but the starter is in a different location and the oil pan has a hump to support it.

Yeah, It went under the oil pan and cleared the factory starter. It was something that a GTP guy in my area showed me, and it peaked my interest.

Clearing the oil pan, unless it's below the subframe is something I would have to see a pic of. I can't see that working.

Ill try to find some pictures, its been a moment since ive talked to him. If anything, Ill prob attempt it, my local hot rod exhaust shop only wants to charge me 250 dollars, but they might need to use square piping when going underneath for clearance reasons, they said, if I ever decide to lower my car.

Square? I would find another shop. Oval has a noticeable decrease in flow from round and square would be worse.

Ill deft check out clearance issues then beforehand. If it is possible without drawbacks (Besides no ac), then it could be sorta cool, and the sound would be interesting, plus decrease heat underneath since it delete the entire crossover pipe.
