I have been working on a family members 97 3.8 (K) vin car. I am having an issue with what part # is the updated LIM metal gasket in stead of the rubber. I have BOTH the GM part #89017825 and a Dorman kit part#6150-717. Well the side gaskets look the same. I am not sure which parts are supposed to be the updated metal design. I also have (but haven't bought) a Fel-Pro part# but it has additional parts(highlighted in yellow below) that I am not sure what they are of if the are for early (mine is early) or late build 97. My block does not have the locator tabs on either kit. I would appreciate some specific advise. Thanks!

GM #89017825 is the superior kit
Felpro MS98014T is the next best thing to GM, but does include some unnecessary parts
Dorman 615-717 is all plastic, JUNK

Use the Dorman 47065HP metal elbows, but replace the junk Dorman o-rings with GM

smaller: 25537068 x3
larger: 24502846 x1

thanks for the replies...next question is about install.... I need the installation order especially when the serpentine belt goes on for the following items: New Dorman upper intake with metal stove pipe, lower intake (NOS GM), complete belt tensioner with metal coolant tubes, power steering pump, alternator..etc. I am most concerned with when the install the new belt. should be done. I remember it being behind the tensioner but it's been a while due to working on this after work since January. I also am installing new pass side motor mount. I would appreciate guidance on this. I bought a FSM but it doesn't help with all these items being pulled off. I would appreciate any pictures as well of a stock 3.8 engine as I am also replacing all the emissions vacuum lines, cruise cable etc. I will also take advice of there all should I put the "right stuff" black RTV. I plan on installing the LIM gaskets dry with RTV in corners. Should I RTV more or anywhere else? (this is a first gen car with the smaller side gaskets. no alignment dowel LIM). Thanks in advance.

Check out the TechInfo section at the top. Everything you're asking about is in there with detailed picture write-ups:

Change Upper Intake Manifold & Lower Intake Manifold gaskets
Change Accessory Belt (95-99 Series II engines)
