Security light intermittent

Every other week or so the "SERVICE THEFT SYSTEM" pops up in the DIC along with the security light staying on for that day but then suddenly the next day it's just fine and I have no idea why. What can I do to fix it? I hate having dash lights

Known issue, not a real problem. Seems to get worse in colder weather. There is a way to apply a DTC mask with a Tech2 that eliminates the light on the dash.

Where do I get a tech 2?

It's the dealer level scan tool. Genuine ones are $1000+, there are Chinese clones for around $300 online that do work. They are a good investment if you do all your own maintenance and troubleshooting. However, any GM dealer would be able to do this for you. Depending on how good of a customer you are, they might do it for free, or charge you minimum hookup rate of $100+.
