Triplets? Bonneville v Audi A8 v BMW 840

A side by side comparison: Can you pick out the 2000 Pontiac Bonneville from the 2021 Audi A8 and the 2021 BMW 840? They are almost exactly the same dimensions in length, width, height and wheelbase. (Hint: only one is less than $100,000.)

I not sure if anyone who is shopping for the BMW or Audi is also going to be looking at a 21 year old bonneville as well, especially just based off the dimensions and cost to purchase. It's kind of like comparing a Golf R to a Yugo. Sure they are both hatchbacks, but they aren't even on the same planet in terms of what you get for quality and features.

Now, if you want to compare a 2000 Bonneville to its German competition of the era it might be a little closer. The German cars that are close to a Bonneville are going to be the BMW 540 and the Audi A6.
The BMW looks cool and is fast but it is not going to be reliable.
The Bonneville will be reliable because 3800 but it isn't built as well and it has less features.
The Audi is pretty reliable and is very comfortable with good features.

This is all assuming the person car shopping can do their own work, if you don't wrench the Bonneville will be a bit cheaper to have repairs done on average.

Agreed for a 540 but not for i6 variants or the M5.

Regardless of era, I don't think any of these compete with the Bonneville. Different missions.

My point was just to show how similar in shape and size the 2000-2005 Bonneville is to new and expensive German 4-door sedans. I've parked next to them before and the resemblance is striking in person. Obviously, no one looking to buy these new $100,000 German cars would buy a Bonneville.

The second point is to show us 2000-2005 Bonneville owners that we have a really good-looking car body style that has stood the test of time and so are worth continuing to drive, fix, and restore them.
