JBL GX speakers for Monsoon sound system (2002 SSEi)...?

Has anyone changed out their factory speakers in the Bonneville Monsoon sound system...?

I think I read somewhere else on here that the JBL GX speakers are a direct replacement for the factory speakers... ?

Fronts Doors - 6.5" and 1" component (can you use these separately without the crossover?):
