Has anyone on here installed a perf shift button from a GTP into the shifter of an SSEI? easy enough to find in a junk yard and bring home for exctrication, just wondering if anyone had done it or maybe just put a GTP shifter handle (just the top with the button) in an SSEI.

I have seen a couple guys with motor swaps do it. It just wires to the PCM then to a ground and when its in "perf Shift mode" it grounds the system and completes the circuit IIRC.
My car is in "Performance" mode all the time with the tune i have. but if you did want to make it switchable you can, the ECU has both shift tables in the computer.

Yeah, I found an unlocked DHP 1.0 file and have transposed all the relevant settings between it and my 03 file...If it wasn't my wife's daily driver I'd wire it pin all the time or adjust the pcm settings so it was in that mode all the time. But performance doesn't interest her, it's just for me when I'm in it.

Seems like the performance shift button on my '93 SSEi had a resistor in it, it wasn't a simple switch and wire install deal.

Hmm, interesting...well if I go that route, I think I want to custom mod a GTP switch into the SSEI shifter...if it's possible without destroying the SSEI shifter...I'm pretty good with a dremel, but only time will tell.

On the 92-99's, the result of installing the shift button on a car that wasn't equipped with it originally didn't get the desired result. The car's original shift behavior would occur when the button was active. When inactive, the shift behavior was actually more economical. So it really became more of an "econ mode" button than a performance enhancer.

FYI any car that does not have "Performance Shift" originally equipped can be added. I got a hold of a DHP tuner and was able to turn the Parameter on. Once that was completed, I edited the tables in the PCM, so I actually have a performance shift. Higher RPM shifting and Trans line pressures, for example. Once the Parameter is turned on you can install anytime of Latched on/off switch just by grounding the correct pin in the PCM.

Does that apply to 95-99 too?
