my 2000 Lesabre with 200k on It,,,the air shocks are not holding air, they are original...how hard to chg to regular shocks ?? And which to buy

I don't know specifically which shocks are recommended for 2000+, however it's just a matter of swapping shocks and disabling the ELC system.

But...

The rear spring rates are set relying on the ELC system to be there, so you will either need to provide another means of rear leveling, or swap out the rear springs. Cars built with ELC will sag much worse with no ELC than a car that never was built with ELC to begin with.

In my case, when my rear struts were blown, anything more than a child in the back seat caused the rear end to hang low.

Why not just put air shock on it?

Honestly, the air system is really not problematic on these cars, at least not enough to warrant conversion. You've ran 200k miles, and your only concern is worn out leaking shocks. Also, the replacements are not prohibitively expensive either.

well for the last 50k miles I have had a toggle switch wired in because the compressor wouldn't shut off...
So I think the compressor is shot and the shocks are shot and I only use it for a winter rat..I was rearended by some idiot on her cell ph...they totaled the car but gave me 3800.00 for it and let me keep it.
It has 4 new snow tires, new front struts and cv's and wheel bearings and new drilled slotted rotors all the way around,,,all done 2 weeks before she hit me..
its a great car, heated leather etc..its a limited..
So I figured just put normal shocks on

If the compressor was running, it's likely fine. Just putting new air struts in is probably the least cost and time intensive fix.

The only factory replacement style that's readily available is the air shock. There's 2 parts to it, the shock absorber and the air leveling. You can run them without the air, or run the switch, but I'm guessing that all that's wrong with your leveling system is the ride height sensor, if it wouldn't shut off. It's easy to replace, and harofreak00 should be able to get you a new one. If your compressor is shot he'll have one of those too. I had to replace the one on my 03 SSEi.

Recommend getting either the Gabriel Skyjackers or the ACDelco rear shocks from Rock Auto. Those allow you to splice the new shocks into your old lines. The factory fittings will more than likely crumble into nothing in your hands.

Ok just took off the toggle switch and went back to stock circuit breaker/fuse...only problem is the compressor comes on and pumps up but id like it to pump a few inches higher and there doesn't seem to be ANY adjustment on the rod ??

Not familiar with the 00+ level sensor. Can the rod be bent or is there a nut at the pivot that could be loosened to allow adjustment?

There's a part on Rockauto that's a conversion kit.

Seems fairly inexpensive too. Not sure on how well it works, but if it's purpose built I would hope they've done the R&D.

Nope and Nope...the rod need to be longer not shorter to make the compressor come on
