2002 SSEI

Post by Kevin Amstutz1 »

I have an issue with my auto climate control. Never had any issues til I went out the other morning and only had center duct mode. No other modes would work when selected. Took my Tech 2 and recalibrated all the HVAC actuator control motors and still nothing. The hot and cold actuators will function properly, but the defrost, floor and center duct mode will not. I have heat from drivers and pass sides. With my Tech 2, I can select the Defrost to AC actuator to move from the center duct mode to defrost mode and the motor actuator functions and I have defrost. But the manual mode select will not move to defrost actuator. I checked all the fuses and I have a B0252 DIC. The tech 2 voltage shows under 5v. Any thoughts?

looks like its the blend actuator or the head unit: you can inspect the door blend to see if it can move to all positions while you change settings.

I can use my scanner to move the actuator from floor to defrost or defrost to floor, so I don't see where I have a bad actuator. Head unit is what I was wondering.

What happened is I had a bad mode actuator and a cracked gear in the drivers temp actuator.

Thanks for reporting back on the causes. It helps us all.
Surprising that it was 2 actuators.

The drivers temp had a split gear at almost the end of travel and the mode selector had me going that I could control the actuator with my scam tool and not the head unit. What convinced me was comparing the counts between my other car wasn't the same.
