UIM = supercharger

Fires in a Bonneville? Rare

Unless that car is around 4500, I'd pass. Dick Olson is a good dealership though.

Not to us. They offered me $1500 for my tahoe, and raised the price they said they were going to give me a THOUSAND dollars. We are so pissed at them. My dad got in a Pissing match with Tom (don't know his last name) and he said he was insulted, and we walked out.

EDIT: Unless they come groveling back and give us a stellar deal, we are never dealing with them again, and them and Dick Olson are going to get a real nice e-mail from the Director of Treasury of a $400 million dollar company.

Sadly, that is the way the world is going with large SUV's. Nobody is buying them... Especially 11 year old ones.

I'm not sure what the dealer did/said besides what you posted, though.

My dad and I are so pissed at them right now. We walked in and talked to $^%#&*, who i talked to last night, when i called, and he gave us the keys and we drove it. Drove nice, ran well, he said they needed to replace the steering shaft, and a few other things. Got back, popped the hood and there was steam coming from the dipstick tube when i pulled it out. I mentioned that, and that could be a LIM leak. He said that they haven't checked it, but it could be a possibility. So they had another one, a blue 02 in the shop, so we went and looked at it, and he said that he would honor the price he quoted us, the 5975, over the 6975 he had in the window. So his sales manager, &$%, test drove my Tahoe, then walked in and offered us a trade, with us paying $5475. My dad got really mad, the kind of mad he never gets, and said that he was giving us $500 for the Tahoe, whereas the guy was giving us 1500 off the $6975, and my dad started yelling and swearing, and the guy didn't know that the other guy told us $5975, and my dad said he was effing insulted, and we got up and left. That is my Dick Olson Rant. Sorry about the length, I'm really pissed that they wasted our time, money, and gas for this crap.

Ok, so the Tom guy didn't know about the $5975 price? So, in reality he was offering $2000 for the trade... Right?

No, he was offering $500 for my truck, $2200 under the blue book value that the other guy looked up. Whether he knew about the $5975 deal or not is not our problem.

I would just wait for the first salesman to be back and go to him again. I wouldn't give up on the car, and the dealership all together. Maybe I'm dense, but, if the 2nd guy didn't know there was already an offer put on the table he probably thought $2k off the price wasn't a bad start.

I guess I don't understand why your Dad blew up. If it would have been me, I'd have just said something on the lines of "I'd be getting a better deal from <salesman A> by keeping my Tahoe and without making the trade then."

Again, maybe I'm :ack: and missing something.

Yea yea, it is no reason to get so upset. holy cow....I was offered $500.00 for my Bonneville. I said "no thanks" and sold it on my own for about $4000.00. Just get up and leave.....no reason to toss around the bad language.. There are dozens of dealerships out there who want to sell vehicles....move on I say....

Or, say to guy #2 that guy #1 offered a better deal already, and say, "What can you do for us?"
being nice will go farther than being pissy.

There were 2 guys there, the sales consultant and the sales manager, and they were together on this deal.

And like was said above, it is a very bad time for SUV's and a dealership will have a hard time selling a Tahoe. The dealer I work at can't sell much of anything - I can't even count the number of brand new Tahoes and Silverados we have on the lot that have been there for a LONG time, not to mention the used ones we have.

When I got the SS, I brought the 94 SSE in as I planned on trading it in. They looked it over, commented on how well-kept it was, and how it drove better than some of their newer stock, but could only offer me 500 for it because it was an older vehicle they just couldn't sell, and that would have been the price the dealership would have gotten for it when they took it to auction. The saleswoman flat out told me I would be better off selling it outside of the deal.

It's a numbers game...and unless one is very hard pressed to get rid of their trade on the spot, it's best to sell it outside of the deal.

Well, we decided that we are calling the General Manager on monday, and at least seeing if we can roast this guy's ass, and maybe get the car, too.

It is a long story, and if you were there, it would make sense, but we were really offended that they went back on their deal, and only gave us $500 for my truck, when the TRADE IN Blue Book Value was $2700

Yeah, we are still going to see if we can get that car out from over their heads, though, because that car deserves better.........

It is a really bad time to trade in old SUV's. They have a really slim chance of selling it quickly and making a profit (which is what there out to do). If you trade the car in, it makes sense they dont pay you as much as if you sold it on your own, because you get rid of it quickly with no effort. I dont think what you saw will be abnormal.
