Dorman Fuel Gauge Sensor

Post by Oldman »

I've found a replacement fuel gauge sensor at Amazon that looks like a great fix for the fuel gauge problems we all have had. Dorman 911-022. Has anyone installed one of these? It says it's an exact fit. It has the plug that goes into the top of the fuel sending unit and has a plug that apparently connects to the fuel pump. I don't remember the pump itself having a plug.
Just wondering if this requires any wiring work. I hate to have "rigged up" connections in my gas tank.
Any reviews good or bad would be appreciated.

The only thing I have used (having done this job twice now) is the little plastic piece with the metal fingers. I didn't disconnect or replace any wiring or connections.

As part of the kit you mentioned, you remove it from the kit and basically toss the rest of it out.

Look up the how-to done by Wes. It should be in the 2000+ common problems thread.

This part worked great! Direct replacement. Plugged in to fuel pump and plugged in to housing with no modification needed. Great to have a working fuel gauge again!
