Bonneville not turning over, just making one click.
Good afternoon everybody. This morning I tried to start my Bonneville, but I didn't have much luck, when I turned the key to the "start" position all I got was a click. I tried putting the car in neutral, but the exact same click sound happened when I tried to turn the key. It was a single "click". When I came home I decided to give the car another try at starting, the car started with one turn of the key in the park and neutral position. Does anybody have an idea whats going on with my Bonneville? I wouldn't want for it to leave me stranded somewhere. Thank you for reading, have a great day.

I'd start by checking the connections at the battery and starter solenoid for corrosion and /or loose. Good chance your problem will be solved.

Could be time for a starter. If it happens again, try tapping on the starter while someone is inside turning the key to the crank position. That may wake it up.

Sounds like a weak battery. Have it load tested to confirm.

Always start with the simple and obvious I always say. Be surprised at the grief it can save. Connections are so often overlooked. Check them at the fuse block too. Bad connections will result in weak battery s6mptoms.

I will start with the connections jradke61, that's a good idea, maybe it is just something simple causing the problem.
I was thinking it was a weak battery considering it was an older one a while back, I changed it out not too long ago, the car was doing the same thing before, I thought the new battery solved the problem, but it doesn't seem to be the case AJT2004, but it is definitely possible to have a defective new battery.
That is a good technique maxi426, if the car is giving me some trouble somewhere, I'll be sure to give that a try, I'm thinking to replace the starter, since it looks like the original one.
Thank you all for the quick response, I'm going to check out my car and see what is going on with it, hopefully it is something simple as a bad connection.
Is there anything else do you folks think may be causing my Bonneville these issues, perhaps a bad module or relay of some kind?

I agree dirty and/or loose connections will give cause cranking problems. Does the car crank and start with a boost? If cleaning the connections does not help, I still suggest a load test before changing the starter,
