New Bonneville SSEI Owner

Post by loganpopo »

Hello all,
Just bought a white 2002 Bonneville SSEI, and am wondering what maintenance should be done?
Old lady drove it before me, and took it to the dealer for service, the car has 42,000 miles on it.

I have ordered supercharger oil, will need the wheels rebalanced, and all the brake rotors and pads need replaced.
Also the HUD seems pretty blurry compared to the Corvette of the same year, but maybe that's just how it is.
Has the Cassette/CD player, but it needs a amp and subwoofer badly.
I installed an amp and subwoofer in my Corvette with the factory Bose head unit, and it was a fairly simple install.
How reasonable is this for the Monsoon stereo?

Thanks Ya'll,
Logan

What a great find and welcome to the Pontiac Bonneville Club !
Typically, you'll get more replies to mechanical questions on the topic specific forums.
The HUD will be blurry if the windshield was replaced and non_HUD glass was used pic in this post http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... ield#p9744

Be sure the tires aren't old, even if they have good tread, as they may have " dry rot ".
All rubber deteriorates over time and dry rotted tires should be replaced for safety reasons.
See this for pics and info https://snapguide.com/guides/check-your ... r-dry-rot/

If your area heavily salts the roads, you'll want to be sure the brake and fuel lines are in good condition.

If the oil hasn't been replaced recently, change it.
Be sure the lower intake manifold gaskets are not the originals
See pic of gray replacement gasket in this thread http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... ds#p455568

If the car was owned by an older person, you may need to clean the dust off the lens/cover for the HUD itself.

I've also seen them where the lens had so much interior dressing on it, all you could see on the windshield was a green fuzzy blob.
