Was scanning the club posts
Today and read with great interest, enjoyment and frankly a historical treatsie on Pontiacs!
Have raised families and driven Pontiacs since I could drive in the 50's! Perhaps millions of miles! The Division leadership made some mistakes for sure. ALL CAR COMPANIES DO! Have driven so many models! It is clear that
Leadership in the head shed screwed up GM- the bean counters! Let's see 55 hardtop- 60 coupe-61 Bonneville convertible-68 GTO-69 GTO-70 GTO CLONED JUDGE (All kids married in this one)-trans.am 6 speed (loaded)-88 Fiero supercharged (*dang* fast!) and many many more! Now we drive the Bonnnevilles some have close to
300,000 miles still going! What a FUN journey. Now I find out ther e is :beerchug: no validated meaning behind SSE I! :banghead: Super Pontiac you have always given us excitement! I miss your New models
But will keep driving what I have! Every day I wake up and think what shall I drive today? One of
The GTO's , the r4th generation TA, supercharged Fiero, or one of the Bonnie's? BTW the 70'convert has a 455 with rebuilt engine and 5k mikes.

Attended the GTO RALLY in Seattle
This year and sat with Jim Wangers and told
Stories what a treat! He stated "I didn't invent
The GTO I marketed
It. John DELOREAN invented that car! Pontiac has BUILT
EXCITEMENT and all I can say is thanks what a journey! We will keep driving them with excitement! :beerchug:

While all manufacturer's make mistakes like you note, the issue at hand is that we as enthusiasts look through things with rose colored glasses... From an "emotional" perspective if you will. At the end of the day, GM and it's brands are in business to push sheetmetal. The bulk of that sheetmetal is heartless, void of passion, soulless vehicles made for utility/life purposes. Add to that the continued march towards eco-doosh mobiles, hybrids, and not to far off in the future, automated/driverless vehicles. In order to survive, GM must adjust.

Had GM truly made catastrophic mistakes (actually they almost did...), they'd no longer exist and we'd all be driving honda's, kia's and other crap from Asia.

NKMIKE just having fun kinda like realizing when you are above ground it is a great day. And when you are driving around Teton Mountains with that 6 speed Pontiac TA hugging corners and the sound of those pipes your day is even greater! And CMNTMXR57 I smiled with amusement when you spoke of the Asian inventory. No one stops to visit about that Asian rig like the do about the Judge, the TA OR the supercharged Fiero. Most think it's
A
Ferrari! It is sort of like
A Harley or
The rest
Of
The bikes! hYup emotions and all make
Emmfun!

I'm with ya brotha...a lot of the members here don't understand tho. They weren't around then or were still poopin green if they were. Even go so far as to bash HDs.
Yeah, forced to change (not for the better for sure) or cease to exist. Perhaps the latter would've been best. Be remembered for the great that they did and were. Like CAT did when forced to put junk in the big trucks. Look what the 6NZ is today. The most sought after motor for rebuilds and glider kits now and for gawd only knows how long.
Or go down as just another company p!ssing off their once loyal customer base til the *dang* Japs take over everything America once stood for.
