Where to get door module?

So my driverside door module crapped out I'm pretty sure. Left window open during the rain at work because I was offsite and none of the controls respond now. I had to pull the door panel off and manually power my window up.

I'm having a hard time finding a source for a new module. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Andrew at Bonnevilles Unlimited should easily be able to hook you up.

There are two modules in the drivers door. The one with the switches and mirror control is not just switches, is a module that communicates on the class 2 serial data bus. This is the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). It sends window commands to the other module mounted behind the door panel referred to as the driver door module (DDM). If one of them was water damaged the DDSA would be my first bet, not the DDM.

Do your other windows roll up and down from their respective switches? If they work correctly, this better supports the DDM (not the DDSA with the switches) is functioning. The other windows are not "allowed" to roll up/down without their door modules first communicating with the DDM to verify the status of the window lockout. Also, if the door locks function correctly, this further supports that other functions of the DDM are also functioning.

I would have to say that I've heard of more DDSA modules having failed than DDM's. Without further diagnostics there's no guarantee, but that's my suggestion. Either way, Andrew (harofreak00) will have a DDSA as well.

The other windows are fine. The only things that do not work are the 4 window switches, the door lock/unlock button, the mirror controls, and the memory buttons. Also the window lock button is flashing, but I haven't tested it, I assume it wont work either.

I'd have to check the schematics (which I can do tomorrow after I'm home from work), but I believe the door lock switch and possibly memory buttons are wired to the DDSA so that actually makes sense. I'm definitely leaning more toward the switch assembly. Again, there are other possible causes such as wiring. Based on what you've said though, I'd still put my money on the DDSA as the most suspect. It's also most likely to be water soaked based on location, orientation and the fact that it isn't a sealed unit. The DDM isn't sealed either but because of how it's oriented in the door, water is unlikely to get into the connectors and such a minimal possibility it can penetrate the seams of the casing it's most likely fine.

Switch assembly for sure, windows down in the rain kills them and your symptoms fit the issues from it.

Okay well Bonnevilles Unlimited doesn't seem to be helping. Emailed and messaged on the website last week and never got a response. I'll have to look somewhere else.

Does anyone have a picture of what the DDSA looks like? I can't remember and I don't want to take the door panel off again until I have a replacement lol

Not sure what happened... I just sent Andrew a message so hopefully he'll chime in right away. He's well known here on the forum for providing excellent service. I'm betting this is just a technical glitch. If you send an e-mail to andrew.suderman@gmail.com it'll his his phone.

Yeah I did. I'm not in anyway saying his services are bad. Its just that I want/need to get this done before I go away to school because I won't really be able to pull the door panel off in a campus parking lot haha

Totally understand. He's normally right on top of this stuff.

The module is part of the switch assembly. It only looks like window switches but it actually has a circuit board inside with all the module logic. The only difference between 2000-03 and 04-05 is the colour of the buttons. They are gray in early years but GM changed to black for 2004-05. They are electronically/electrically compatible. Here's an example of one on eBay. When you buy one (particularly used), they typically come with the trim bezel you see on the door.

Carefully done, you don't have to remove the door panel to swap this part.

Oh, how awful for him! Once I looked up that word "vacation" I remembered what it meant.

Yes, I was on vacation for our 5 year anniversary. Just got back last night. I'm going through a flood of emails this morning. Look for a response soon.

I can say this about Andrew's service.....he is always very prompt in answering emails and shipping. If you can't get a hold of him there's a very good reason why. Since it's getting more difficult finding parts for these cars, one needs patience and multiple sources for parts.
