95 Bonneville SE Broken Brake Line
I just got a 95 Bonneville from my father for my first car and it has a broken brake line and the parking brake is seize on. Where do I look for a new brake line? What do I need to install it?

Re: 95 Bonneville SE Broken Brake Line
hi, you can either replace the whole line- gm dealer and parts store have them or you can repair the existing leak by using a union and new brake line that you have to flare with a flaring tool....there are some videos of flaring brake lines on youtube if you are new to this
the repair will be about 50 bucks including the flare kit
where is the leak/ break on the car?

The whole brake line snapped and dropped out of my car so i currently have no brakes. The leak in the parking brake is right behind the rear driver side brake drum.

Re: 95 Bonneville SE Broken Brake Line
ok, so you can buy the complete line or make it yourself with the fare kit
the parking brake is actuated by a cable- you can fix that after the line is repaired- so the leak is prob from the broken line
you got to get under there and inspect all the lines cause if they are rusted badly, the pressure of the fluid will make them pop a leak
there was a post on the site for lines for sale- try to search for it please............body-draggers? like zombies or what?

No need to buy a flare kit unless you want to. Auto zone sells flared brake lines of different lengths already.

Re: 95 Bonneville SE Broken Brake Line
I had to replace a few sections of line on my '93. A few things to note:
1) If you don't want to buy the flare tool or deal with pre-made lines, some parts stores loan out the kit.
2) Definitely inspect the rest of the lines. Two of my line failures were catastrophic, and one of them necessitated some unplanned "driving excitement" in order to avoid crashing. Scared a few people in the process. So if in doubt, replace anything that looks crumbly.
3) Not all brake fittings are flared the same way. Not all brake line is the same size. Be sure that your fittings, flare types, and line sizes are correct.
Aside from all that, it's really not that bad to do. Just be sure to bleed thoroughly afterward.
PS: Welcome.

Another note: The rear lines have pressure/proportioning valves in them. About the size of a lipstick tube, under the rear passenger door, one for each rear line. They rust up real good.

Re: 95 Bonneville SE Broken Brake Line
when the lines blew on my 03 i just wacked all my brake lines out to replace them, i used the unflared lines and used a rented flare tool (which i broke 3 flare tools). took me a long time to do it since i only had a few hours and i took out all the old lines but it wasnt the most terrible job ever but id strongly suggest it if one went
