So some of you may have read my intro, I bought a 2000 Bonneville SSEi, from a friend. The car had a problem, where the battery was being killed by a mystery draw. That, turned out to be the Pass Key II module, being bad, somehow waking the BCM, after the system armed. Had a shop diagnose and fix it, for 170 bucks. Next I noticed it was leaking coolant, so back at the shop, water pump needs to be replaced $250. Also having him check codes, ABS, Traction Control and Brake lights are steady on, on dash. Ive read a few posts about the ABS module going, so hopfully thats one I can fix myself.

Sunroof track is broke on passenger side, hoping I can just buy the plastic parts and fix, instead of replacing the whole sunroof. Ughhh.

One other odd issue, the car does a shaking, when accelerating moderately, steeringwheel shakes and can feel the whole.car doing it. Alignment is good,it got checked with new tires a month or so ago.

EBCM (ABS module) is very easy to replace. It sits next to the front transmission mount, more or less under the air box. Just need to get the correct one for your car. There is a number code on it which you will need to match. See if Andrew (Bonnevilles Unlimited) can get you hooked up with a replacement.

Shaking on acceleration might be an axle issue.

Awesome, thank you for the repliw. Yeah the shop quoted me 450 for a rebuilt module installed. I'd rather find one and do it myself, for sure.l, if i can find one from Andrew, that would be awesome. Car running great right now. The shaking does make me wonder about axles, how would I check? I know i can check tierod ends and such by lifting the car and trying to shake the wheel, basically.

$250 for a water pump? That seems kinda steep for a $27 part

Goostoff, in the past you've posted that you are a mechanic in a used car lot.
Sounds like you're out of touch with current auto repair labor prices--which also do vary by location.
Anywhere near a large city you can expect to pay at least $250 for a water pump to get replaced.

BTW, did you ever fix this problem ?

Maybe I need to start charging more. It takes about an hour and a half to replace a water pump on an L67. I do 100% mark up on most parts which would round to $60 for parts. My shop rate (cheapest around and keeps work at my door) is $45 an hour which would be $67.50 added together is $127.50. Going rate for all of the private shops around here is $50 an hour and there is a *shoot* of competition so we keep the rate lower.

I really havent had time to mess with my problem. My fear is that the fuel pump is getting weak after 250k miles. I am going to try a fuel filter first and I did find out Thursday that there is a recall on the fuel pressure regulator so I am going to make an appontment for that on Monday. Crossing my fingers that the regulator turns out to be the problem.

Bad news, Goostoff; GM did not recall the FPRs on the supercharged engines, nor did they recall them beyond 2000.

For some reason, all the previous owners of my Bonnevilles didn't think the fuel filter ever needed to be changed.

Hope your issues clear up with just a fuel filter but 250K seems like a reasonable amount of use for the fuel pump to be giving out.

At least the pump is easy to change.

I did not have fun doing the pump on my 93, after 20+ years of road salts.

hi to check if the body shake is the drive axel, please get car up to speed of shake and put it into neutral to disengage drive axels.
if no shake in Newt, its looking like axel, if not, keep looking and posting..............happy trails

Awesome. Will do. Im feeling like axle, cause the shaking subsides if I take my foot off the accelerator. Fun part is, which axle is it? Probably should just replace them both with 230k on the car. No clue if they have ever been done.

Recieved a ABS module from Andrew at Bonneviles Unlimeted. Will put it in this weekend.

hi, to narrow down the problem axel, put on hoist- safest- or jackstand in front of wall and put a strip of duck tape neatly and straight around the end of axel near the hub- start, put in gear - parking brake on and wheels chocked and you will see the tape wobble if the axel is bad- if good, you will see a nice straight line forming the ends of tape........please be careful if no hoist is used............later

This forum is amazing. You all are a wealth of info. My Bonnie has been down for about 2 weeks, I have a crack in the radiator, looks to be right at the upper hose.conector. hose is new, I was hoping it was just the hose LOL. Ill be tackling that this week, and putting in the ABS module.i gor from bonnevilles unlimeted. A plug for Andrew, he is super helpful and got me the part, and even told me the best way to instal it. If you havent gone to him for parts, you should.

Here's a thought on the acceleration shake...... Check the motor/tranny mounts.
