Trans Cooler Question

Hello,
My 1993 Bonneville SSE S/C has the larger trans oil cooler located in frot of the radiator. I think the p/n is 12364240 and that it's an auxiliary cooler for towing. It's leaking and is no longer available. Since this is auxiliary has anyone had a similar issue and just remove it and connected the lines?
Thanks!
Joel

All supercharged applications have an auxiliary cooler. The 4t-60e is known for running hot, especially with an L67 in front of it. With no cooler, heat is an extreme danger, and can drastically reduce the remaining lifespan of the transmission. Salvage yard may be worth a look, however aftermarket upgrade should also be considered, especially if you want the transmission to stick around a while.

You can replace it for fairly cheap with some fuel injection line, clamps, and generic aftermarket cooler of the same size.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the input. Makes perfect sense. This car
Alway seemed to run a bit hot.

What part of Detroit are you from?

As well I would say any medium to large cooler should work fine.. The 4T60E did have a bad habit of getting a little too hot, keep them cool and they last a long time.. I have a massive Hayden cooler on my 95 Bonneville.. 213k trans still shifts awesome, no slipping.

My 95 Trans Sport( modded ) has a large B&M cooler for RV duty LOL..

Both Transmissions stay nice and cool.
