Bad PCS? Transmission Slipping

Post by pinstriper38 »

Well, crap

So, after I got out of work today I went and got groceries, hopped in the car, got to the intersection and took off. I got on it - but not full throttle - and something went bang. When I got to the next intersection the trans did not want take off, shuddered and when I slowly let off the throttle it seemed to catch and run through the gears ok, but only after I get moving. I limped it home by manually shifting it because that seemed to be the only way to get it to move. Reverse was fine.

Its a 2000 Bonneville SSEI, currently has 138,000 miles on it. I bought it knowing it has a bad PCS, or so I believed, but because it only would hesitate very briefly to take off from a dead stop, I have not changed it yet. When I got the car, I put the transgo kit in it, new filter, and flushed the trans and this seemed to make it 80% better - enough to never bother me. I did, however, notice in the last few weeks that the hesitation would some times return. Has not thrown a code, or at least a CEL. Prior to today I have never had a problem with it shifting.

Would the bad PCS cause it to slip, but allow it to work manually?

Fluid looks/smells good, not burnt, I can see extremely fine particulates but, I have seen a lot worse in working trans' so I'm unsure what to make of it. Thoughts?

Well...it did. But the trans decided to take a dump on me. Hopefully its good as new, I'm picking it up tomorrow. It better be, since the trans cost me as much as I paid for the dang car.
