2000 Transmission Replacement
A question for those who have had experience removing and installing a replacement transmission.
What is the preferred method of removal? Remove engine first or drop subframe?
This will give me something to do this winter.....

Re: 2000 Transmission Replacement
Thanks
Still trying to make up my mind if rebuilding this transmission is really worth it......
The more I look at the costs and other things that it will need like tires (half worn - performance 17" sizes are no longer available) and Stereo upgrade (+$1000), the more I want to sell it......
....and then also the availability of other parts if it gets into an accident......
Anyone want to buy it for $4500 ? I can bring it to Vancouver BC or the Island.

Re: 2000 Transmission Replacement
Put a stock trans in and keep driving it?
Also, I still have that Bose head unit with the iPhone aux input wired into it somewhere in my garage. It just needs a face. I don't mind sending it to you if you reimburse me for the shipping cost. The wire it uses is for an iPhone 4. I got a little adapter for it when I got an iPhone 5. The little headphone jack on the adapter allows you to play music using any device, albeit without charging the device.

Re: 2000 Transmission Replacement
Gantry with chain pulley to support engine/ trans. Dropped subframe by itself then lowered trans with floorjack.

Re: 2000 Transmission Replacement
Thank goodness Shadd gave me my Transepter pressure modulator back.
I bumped up the pressure in the transmission and seems to be working.
When Will from Overkill tuned it in the spring that's when the problem started.
I remember him telling me he turned the pressure down a little

Re: 2000 Transmission Replacement
I think that the $100 electrical device just saved me thousands!

Re: 2000 Transmission Replacement
and for future reference.. this is the easiest..
* Support engine

* remove sub frame
* pull trans out bottom
