I don't know what to think on this one here. I have plenty of Freon in my system. But the driver side vents blow warmer than the passenger side. Suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

The most common reason is low refrigerant. Did you check your low and high side pressure readings?

Yes they're nominal

Difficult to help when you give vague information. "plenty" and "nominal" are not pressure readings and contradictory. But if the low side is nominal add refrigerant.

Definitely check your charge, warmer driver side is very typically a low charge. Otherwise it may be a door mix actuator.

Search the site (upper right) and you will find plenty of useful information. I would still recommend you verify low pressure psi.

Low - 30 to 40
High- 150 to 210

Heard a sound like a clunk come from compressor and at this the pressures on both sides dropped a little bit.

My theory..... BAD internals in the compressor or they're just worn out.

You've continued to disregard the help that is given, which are probably the right solution. You are low on freon. This is a very common issue, I've seen it personally on many cars, including one TODAY.

The pressures have nothing to do with how much freon is in the system. The pressures are directly related to the ambient temperature and humidity. There is no way to know how much freon is in the system unless it is evacuated and weighed. The much easier option is to add a little more. Try a 12oz can and see what happens. They are $6.88 at Walmart.

The clunking you heard from the compressor is the clutch engaging and disengaging, completely normal.

Please, take the advice given. If you don't think we are right, take it to an AC shop and pay the big bucks to have a pro do it.

That clunk happened while the AC clutch was engaged. And yes I'm appreciative of the help. I am needing to weed out issues before I go to Florida again. Don't want to drive in a hot atmosphere

i had the identical problem and it was low coolant.... charged it up and its like a meat locker in my car

After rushing the issue and getting down to brass tacks, I figured "why not replace the high side connector?" I did and pulled a vacuum on the system and it held. Put in correct amount of 134a and it blows out the driver vent at 58°(can it be colder or that good?). But I'm happy with it.

I have to admit I don't understand why you felt it was necessary to replace the high side connector. How does that compare to the temperature before you recharged the system? What was the outside temperature? What is the passenger side reading? Does the temperature decrease on recirculate/max? Did you remember to purge the hoses before charging? This is sometimes overlooked and could cause the system to operate less efficiently.

So after all of that.. instead of just adding a $6 bottle of freon, you decided to something completely random? Evacuate the system, install a new high side connector, pull a vacuum and then recharge? I don't understand the logic.

How much freon did you put in this time?

It should get much colder than 58°F.

EVERY time I've seen this problem it was simply low. hahahHAHAHA

I replaced the high side connect because I used dawn soapy water to check for leaks and I could clearly see small bubbles rapidly forming inside. Put this other one on and it does NOT leak.

It blows cold enough for me as I don't want to be shivering.
