I found the great thread about fixing the door leak. It mentions using a POLYshim Butyl Architectural Tape. Does anyone have more details as to what size bead of this stuff I buy and where to get it? Or is there a better alternative? caulking?

I'm curious as well, as there's many flavors of Butyl tape available from Amazon for less $$ then the particular Polyshim cited.

My local body shop uses this stuff for re-sealing water shields, says it works great. I'll be trying it later this week.

Yes I use 3M Windoweld as well. I use the 3/8" variety as it can be stretched to almost double its length and still have a good sized bead, for almost the same price as the 1/4". I can get almost all 4 doors with 1 - 15' box. http://www.amazon.com/3M-08612-Window-W ... +windoweld

Basically, any butyl tape will work. Caulk WILL NOT WORK. I've seen people use it in the past. It is messy and not adhesive enough. The butyl tape sticks like crazy and is reusable.

+1 on the butyl tape. Plus it can be used for so many other uses. I have a bunch of it all over the interior suppressing various rattles. Hahaha

I've always just called a local glass shop. This is a very common item, any shop that deals in pane type glass will use it.
