Club Chapters

Has anyone wanted to start a club chapter that would maybe meet once a month, and hold regional annual meets. I belong to other online clubs but most are California based and have monthly meets anyway. However I would really like to start up a local chapter, for people in SoCal (LA to Mexico boarder) But anyone can come by from anywhere. Just a thought! I'd like to swap tips and even the occasional trip to Irwindale Raceway or California Raceway could be cool. By the way I used to have the window decal for the "BonnevilleClub.com" is there one for "PontiacBonnevilleClub.com"? Also had some "BonnevilleClub.com" cards to put on cars at times are any of these available?

It seems as though the greatest concentration of us now, are in the midwest. Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio. A few folks out in the PacNW too (where they used to hold annual Bonneville meets), but overall, not that many active members to support such chapters.

Take a look down at the events section. There is/was a bunch of meets where we do/will get together, but again most surround Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, etc.

Coming up is the Michigan meet and 3800 meet in ~2 weeks, and then Woodward in Detroit in August. Both will have a bunch of members attending each event.

Yeah! This was the reason for my question. I assume there are others from California on here, but with a lot less activity. I've seen a lot go on in the midwest a lot more then here. Car are a big deal here but more for the wacky, weird, aftermarket, and graphics, not so much for the shade tree mechanic or work on your car every weekend types here either.

Same is true for sports and things like that. There are not nearly as many sports nuts here than the rest of the country and I think it has a lot to do with the weather and the made dash for the all mighty $$. I may be off a bit but that's what it has always seemed like to me.

I used to live in Oregon and I would always see the guys working on their cars in the driveway or garage year around just to see if they could get that extra 1 or 2 HP out of it without buying anything. And the same in Chicago and other areas, my cousins live in Chicago area and they are always working on something (Cars, Motorcycles, Trucks, room additions). In California we just pay someone else to do it.

I can tell you one thing that I have seen in the past 25 years. The number of guys under the age of 35 who don't even know how to change their oil, change a belt, or even worse change a flat tire (eveyone has auto clube or something). It's a crying shame!

I used to do all of my own work for years, now not so much. But I will still get under the hood to do some things, but no major work anymore.

There aren't that many members from SoCal, even fewer active. I assume the Bonneville was less popular there for various reasons...

See you should move to Chicago, become a Blackhawks fan and work on your cars with us. :)

I'd love to join a club. Unfortunately, I can't move to Chicago, so are there any members in New York? Brooklyn or Staten Island would be great. Well?

I've been trying to move but it more of a wife and job thing at this point. I don't get back that way nearly enough, and I miss the Pizza. The last time I was there to enjoy myself was in 2008. I would also have a hard time Picking between Park Ridge, Oak Park, etc.. and the U.P. (I really like the U.P.)

Also I would probably not last long rooting for the 9ers! Not that the team is any good now that they have lost everyone good.

Meh, most Bears' fans don't have much animosity against other teams. The only ones we despise are the dipsh*ts to the north (diarhea green and puke yellow puckers), the ViQueen's, and the Lion's.

I can't say Park Ridge or Oak Park would be my first choices (unless you have a history there), but Oak Park has enjoyed a some influx/growth lately. The problem is, you're just a few blocks from 'Da Hood. And Park Ridge is sammiched in a corner and people are stacked on top of one another and a lot of "ethnicities" there.

I'd be moving out west (by me), or southwest (Plainfield, Oswego, etc...). You can buy a lot of property and a nice home, lower taxes and still be closed to expressways/tollways and Metra.
