gas pedal hard to press down

Seems like when i first use the car for the day this is what happens. The pedal is hard to push like something is jammed. if i give it a good tap it frees up and away i go. I was looking at the throttle body and was opening and closing the "Flap" manually and noticed that something is holding it back cause i can hear it free itself...is there a screw or something i need to adjust?....thanks

Hi, could the wire that pulls the t-body open be kinked and sticking on the plastic housing that goes to pedal through firewall?

I don't know how common or rare this is but on our 1994 that plate that opens and closes had actually worn a little groove into the throttle body so that it would have to "pop" open any time it went completely closed. Could be your problem?

It sounds like you already have the honeycomb off the end of the throttle body. Clean the
throttle body with spray cleaner and a wooden stick and rag. Let it soak.
The goop that burps back from the crankcase when engine is shut off has probably coated the inside
of the throttle body with a hardening black goo. When you shut off the engine, the
throttle body cools, shrinking more than the throttle plate. This makes the throttle
plate rub on the carbon at the closed position.
Once you've pushed it through the carbon, it operates easier. And as the throttle body
warms and expands, it disappears completely. Until the next cool down overnight.
Try pushing the throttle before you start the engine the next time the car has cooled
overnight.

Removing the throttle body is not very difficult. You will just lose a little bit of coolant. But when it's off the car it is so much easier to clean. That gunk is stubborn.

Hi, I must warn you: Do not spray cleaner into the throttle body while engine is running: I killed my cat in my 96 SSEi with that stupidity- use the rag like above or remove from car and clean
