Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
hello i recently bought a 97 bonneville. it came with aftermarket radio and has the stock bose surround sound, but you hear nothing. also, you can hear the power antennae trying to go up and down, but never see it! if anyone can help me out, it will be greatly appreciated.
oh and this isnt my first bonnie, i had a 99 se with a 12 in kicker hooked to a bonestock radio. lol the light for the radio didnt even work but man did that car pound!!

Remove the radio and check over the connections.

Re: Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
Does the radio at least power up? Cause if it turns on, but no audio is coming out, that means you don't have any power going to your bose amp in the car. My friend just had this happen to him on his '99 Grand Prix GT, and all he had to do was take the Blue or Blue/White wire from the deck and put that to the Red or Pink power wire from the wire harness. Then it worked fine.

Re: Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
There should be a separate connector with one orange wire on the back of the stock radio, IIRC. That wire needs to be connected to the switched power source. I think it's orange at least, it has been about six years since I did it.

Re: Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
ok little update. i took out the radio and saw the blue and white wire with black tape on it, so i took it off and connected it to an orange wire that was loose, and now have audio. its only working on the right side speakers but i'll just go back in tomorrow to see if everything is connected properly. and haro, you're right the wire is orange.
thank you guys for the help!

Re: Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
The settings on the radio might only be set for right side only, you could check that. I doubt it, but its worth a shot. Otherwise you have some wires not connected that power the left side speakers.

Re: Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
should have mentioned it earlier but yea i tried the settings on the radio with no success.
Re: Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
check all the wires on the harness, try connecting the Left speakers to the Right channel on the deck.. make sure its not the output on the deck that failed. if they are all correct then you might have the left channel out on the stock amp..

Re: Power to pioneer radio, but no audio
i checked all the connections and were all correct. i couldn't figure out what was wrong so i tried balancing the audio to the left speakers. they're working but not like the right ones. all i did was balance them out so the audio comes out evenly through all speakers. and man, the stock rear speakers make the trunk vibrate, makes it sound like my old kicker i had in another bonnie

Make sure the speaker outputs on the harness are wired in phase.
