mufflers....

I like the Aerochamber, but I recently discovered the Ocelot that was floating around the Fiero group.. I'm still looking for that 'clean' sounding v6 exhaust. Willing to try new things with the '97 LeSabre build. Was planning a silly huge resonator and J-pipe setup without a muffler.

:bhuh:

How loud do you want?

As long as it has a clean sound I don't care if it's loud really.

I've heard a 3800 fiero with the ocelot set up, and it sounded really good. Not too raspy at all, but it was pretty loud. I'm not sure how much of the sound would come from the shape of the exhaust system though.

I had a Fiero for 3 days this summer that had an Ocelot exhaust, it was decently loud. Not something I would want to deal with in a daily application.

Define clean sound..

So even my old LG3 sounded clean. http://youtu.be/VwyYbAyXIRE

But the series 2 just has that spewing vomit sound.

I would think that the Ocelot muffler could be toned down a bit with a resonator/cat.

I hate to say it, it may be a curse that must be lived with. Remember, the LG3 is a different animal. Even Series 1 doesn't sound the greatest, but can be tamed with the right approach and driving style.

I took a look through Youtube, and any where from no exhaust, flowmasters, in a Fiero, there was just no escaping what you were describing. About the closest hope was the long tube headers that 95naSTA was working on, which may be worth looking to see what the final results were.

I still have rasp with the 33" primary long tubes, magnaflow cat, 18" long resonator and a Borla muffler. :/

I thought about a j tube setup myself, but in addition or my humungous resonator and mufflers.

Thing with exhaust is there are so many variables and its such a subjective topic that the only way to know for sure what works is to experiment for as long as your bank account holds out.

THe next ting I want to try is replacing one of my magnaflows with a chambered muffler. I think part of what causes the cars with the split dual setup (ssei, sle, etc) to sound so bad is the symmetry. I would also like to try adding length to one side to see if it would help cancel out some of the deep drone.

Is it wrong that I find myself wanting to push to just shut it up with the stock muffler? That way the whine is that much crazier when the occasion demands it.

The LeSabre is a textbook sleeper, and I like sleepers :)

Not at all, that was another option, but she wants a "loud car".

Slap an exhaust cutout and controller on it? Much loud on demand right there...

Has anybody used spintech pro street 9000's on the l67? I've done switched my flow master 10's for these on my caprice and ram 1500 extremely aggressive. I'm thinking of doing a single in dual out muffler vs 2 mufflers keeps cost down lol. I'll be doing mine next month and putting the *dang* resonator back on lol.

Is ATR still around? They were big in the Grand National world back in the day. They had exhaust systems/mufflers.

They eventually did an F-Body setup for 4th gens, which is what I had on my Camaro. I loved it. I thought it sounded better than most. Deep rumble, but not obnoxious like others or just plain obnoxious (Borla and Flowmaster).

Disregard. I just went and tried to find them again and they're long since gone.

I have just had an inspiration, LOL

Every dual exhaust 3800 I have heard has been a wonderful noise, but it's probably not feasible.

I'll approve of waking this one from the dead this time. If my Camaro sounded like that, I'd sell my motorcycle. Dual exhaust is certainly feasible in H-body cars, especially with the other style headers. But there is a size limit in the rear tunnel that means it's either going to hang low or be too small to have a real performance benefit, or modified floor pan..

I have used this race muffler(put on right after the cat) to get rid of most of the drone a couple of my cars had. It worked great on my '00 SSEI

You can find it for around $59

I'm looking for something noise cancelling like corsa but can't find anything like that. Any thoughts?
