I've been troubleshooting stumbling of the C3 for the last few weeks. as of tonight I believe I have a blown head and what appears to be milkshake coming out of the coolant reservoir. This can't end well...

Trans fluid is bright and fairly clean. I did top it off a few days ago when I was troubleshooting things but it wasnt that low at the time. It still appears to be towards the bottom end of the full mark right now, but a little lower than it was. Guessing now that the lines in the radiator rusted out causing cross contamination of the fluids and the rough running I've had. It's parked now and won't be driven until it's fixed.

How do you know that it is not a UIM/LIM failure? For some reason I was thinking the v8's weren't completely either.

Milkshake in the crankcase rarely ends well, even on its own.

Oil looks perfect still which is a great sign. I checked the new plugs again a few days ago as well and they were also looking just fine at the time. There is hope this may not be a end of life issue for it now.

Just the radiator/oil cooler?

Do these have a cooler built into the radiator in addition to the one mounted behind the grille?

That just looks like transmission fluid with coolant to me, definitely not oil.

I'm going to start on the truck this week sometime. Getting everything flushed out and remove the rad and all the coolant rubber hoses to see what the actual damage is. Hopefully it isn't too bad and new parts and a flush and fill of the fluids gets it back on the road again.

If that is trans fluid I would be very afraid.... A friend of mine had the trans cooler inside his radiator rupture and it led to first trans fluid in the radiator / cooling system then when he shut the car off the coolant back flushed into the trans, he didn't know it at the time but even just the short five mile drive killed the trans and required a rebuild. I say double check your trans fluid level and make sure it isn't full of coolant. If the internal trans cooler is found to be the source of the problem, drop the trans pan and flush the lines out asap.
