New Alternator?

Post by OnlyAnSE »

Im guessing this an alternator going bad but the problems im having are whenever i am just sitting in park my volt meter will go up and down from 12 to 15-16. Also whenever i listen to my music with my subs going I get extreme dimming whenever the bass hits a certain frequencies(mostly low),running a 1200 watt amp to 2 12's. If anyone thinks that there is something else going on or anything to add please let me know before i waste money on a new alternator! Thanks Much!

Make sure the leads are tight on the battery.

Just solved it! The positive terminal connecting the positive lead and subwoofer lead was a tad loose from the lack of room for tightness from the sub lead.will be looking into a new positive lead also since the one that is one there is a bit corroded and deformed. Thanks for your opinion it saved me from making a big mistake!

Connect the positive wire to the sub to the positive wire on the rear fuse block. The bolt is long enough for you to terminate the wire with a ring terminal that fits over the bolt and under the nut.
