Air Conditioning Cost?

Just got an estimate by a shop to do a full A/C replacement and they said it would run 2500 bucks.......now that seems high to me but let me know what you all think. Thanks!

That is absolutely ridiculous.
I'm not on my desktop or I would look up parts but rough estimate.
Compressor $250-$350
Condenser $80-$150.
Those are the big parts and then other little stuff. So if they replaced every part in the system I could see maybe charging $1200 at a shop

Most repair shops like A/C jobs b/c they usually can rape your wallet. Andrew (harofreak00) can give you tips on how to do it right without the big $$$$. - BC

I dont know what the guy was thinking. He though I had everything disconnected and there had been moisture inside of the piping or something. Everything was connected fine and just needed a recharge so it was cheap. And even if it was how he said I dont see how he came up with 2 grand.
