Blower motor resistor

I have intermittent failures of the blower fan. AC clutch engages normally but no fan at all. I can drive down the road with the AC switched on and hit a bump and the fan starts. Fan speed is limited, but there is enough to cool the car. I stopped at an AC repair and they said it was the resistor that is located underneath the dash on the passenger side. Does this all sound right? Is this resistor just plug and play? Ive priced it and it looks like around $100 or so and I'm thinking it's just unbolt unplug and reverse the order with the new one. Anybody else had this problem on their GXP?

You are looking for the blower control module, located on the passenger side of the HVAC unit. It is plug and play, has one plug going into it then three wires going out that plug into the blower motor itself. You will need a 5.5 mm to remove it. I have a good one I I can sell you.

I would do $50 shipped, it is also out of a 2005 GXP.

yeah there is no resistor. And the blower control module could be bad among other things, but that is the second most likely culprit. Harofreak00 sells them for $25. But before you change it, check the voltage going to the blower. It is much more common for the blower motor to go bad than the module.

Those are the symptoms I had when my blower motor failed. Remove the hush panel, and tap on the blower motor when it doesn't want to operate. If that makes it start working, then you know your problem is the motor itself. Replacement isn't too bad.

Is the hush panel in the engine compartment or under the passenger side dash?

Under passenger side dash. Basically the lower panel.

Yes I do, is it confirmed that is your issue?

I didn't realize the BCM goes for the cheap from Andrew now, I would do $25+ shipping for either the blower motor or the BCM.

Not yet but I'm pretty sure. I will diagnose and get back to you after the 15th. I'll likely get both.
