SES light came on.
SES light came on.
About a week ago the "Service Engine Soon" light came on in my '94 SSE. I haven't driven it much since then, but it has stalled a few times and the torque converter doesn't lock up anymore. I haven't been able to find anyplace that can scan the OBD 1.5 codes. Does anyone know which scanners are compatible? On the Actron website it lists the cp9145 and cp9150. Are there others? Any ideas what is likely causing my problems? Thanks in advance.

there's a paperclip trick to get codes via flashing the SES light to find out what is what, but i am not sure the exact procedure.

93 is the last year that can do that.

I do have a laptop if there's some easy way to get the codes with it. You're right about the paper clip not working, this has the OBD 2 connector. Thanks for the replies.RJolly87 wrote:93 is the last year that can do that.

That opens up the option of scanning software as well.

Re: SES light came on.
I took the Bonn to a couple GM dealerships today and neither one had an adequate handheld scanner, even though they assured me they could scan the codes after I explained about OBD 1.5. They wanted to charge quite a bit for a full diagnostic, with no guarantee that it would pinpoint the problem, so I decided to buy an Actron CP9145 on ebay. It should get here sometime next week, and I inderstand it's supposed to work with OBD 1.5. Does anyone here have experience with this scanner? If it turns out not to work, I will be interested in the scanning software you mentioned, RJolly87. I don't think I have overdrive anymore. It's running about 2600 rpm's at 65 mph.
