Finally . . A Grand Prix!! (Newer Pictures)

Post by GotBonneBWitMe »

Well, for anyone that knows me in real life . . I tend to switch up cars a lot due to boredom of just driving the same car. So I got rid of my Green Bonneville (Pictured Below) a little over a month ago. Since then, I've been using my 'winter beater' Grand Am. But, recently, I went ahead and purchased a 99 Grand Prix GTP off of a friend. She has been sitting on it for a while . . driving it every now and then (Barely) and so I decided I might as well buy it from her. It needs some exterior cosmetic work and needs to be debadged (You will see what I mean) . . But engine and transmission wise -- It is in GREAT shape. The interior is in nice shape as well (No picture of that at the moment). She bought the car how it is appearing from someone and made no changes to it . . But I will. I like the 2 tone silver and red. So it is staying (At least for a little while). The door panel stickers HAVE to go. Also, I have never been a fan of rear window stickers, but I like this one . . So it will be staying. Have to tint the windows darker and get a muffler for it (Owner before her took off the muffler . . so it is VERY loud). But other than that . . It is a fantastic car! This summer I will have it right, but I just couldn't wait to show it LOL.

** Have always one specifically for the sunroof as well. :bwoohoo:

*****And Ill have more pictures up when I get more progress. Cleaner pictures!

Those walmart badges and tuner decals just hurt... Looks clean otherwise. Can't wait to see how it looks after it's "fixed"

Nice score!

Just be careful with the plastic rocker panel covers. They look like they are sagging which either indicates that they were re-installed at one time incorrectly or there isn't any solid sheet metal behind them to attach them to (rusted rocker panels).

Looks good! Maybe a bit much red for me, but the color scheme does work.

Looks like somebody had a lot of free coupons to AutoZone's ricer section.

Only the passenger side rocker panel cover is falling off . . And yes . . It is due to rusted out rocker panels. I solved that problem slightly today by putting a tie wrap (whatever they are called) through a hole I made through some of the metal and then the cover and 'attached' them. The pictures do a little justice to the cleanliness of the exterior paint. It needs to be washed a few times and definitely waxed with a polisher. The car has been mainly sitting for a few months so it is kind of weathered.

Also has a little rust bubble by the gas tank. But other than that it is decent. Took all the stickers off today too . . Besides the rear window decal.

I'll have to get it washed up then take some better pictures. Looks better already!

Lol. I can respect that. Honestly, when I first saw it . . I wasn't a fan neither. I saw it through pictures than in person. I was iffy. But a few touch ups and it will be right. I just envisioned the possibilities of it. Paint isn't *shoot* . . but that engine and trans run perfect.

I wish others saw it as you do. Its getting looks just about everywhere I go and compliments. I half like the attention and half don't.

To each their own. I like to stand out too, just in more subtle fashion. As long as you like it and that’s all that really matters. Getting compliments is a good feeling though. Good luck with it, hope it treats you well.

Newer pictures of it "more" cleaned up.

Chrome grilles in the front to replace the red. I like the red on the bottom now.

Put on new brakes. And while doing that I decided to run to the auto parts store and get some spring spacer to lift the car about 1 1/2 - 2 inches Just in the back. Lifted the car nice and evenly. (Was leaning a little in the rear.)

New mufflers put on.

Right now I'm deciding if I would like to keep the car. It's starting to bore me and I don't know if I want to put any more money in to it to get it to where I would like it to be.

Decisions Decisions Hmm . . .
