05 Pontiac Bonneville door trim

any suggestions on how to restore the "chrome" strips on each door above the cladding ? I've tried alum/chrome paint which works for awhile but soon looks bad again. are replacements available ?

I tried paint, but for some reason chrome paint wont hold its color at all might as well paint it gray. Anyways what I did was peel off all old chrome on the base of where it was coming off and stuck some chrome strip on it.

Here is what I'm talking about. I Believe the size is 3/8 can be bought at auto zone
