:helpsmilie: Hey guys, mark here. Does anyone have the color code to a 97 SSE with Bose system? I'm installing a Sony MDX-C7900 Minidisc Player in dash but lost the color code chart to the plugin that goes between the Sony & factory stereo wiring harness. Thanks for any help.

If nobody else gets it before I get home this evening, I have the 97 FSM's at home, and I'll get it for you.

Don't forget to tap the acc power into the bose amp power wire, or you'll get no sound.

I had to deduce the wire colors and connector pins from the radio harness for the wires that go from the Radio to the Bose Amplifier. The only radio connector diagrams are on pages 8A-202-48 and 8A-202-49, and they show the pinout wire colors for the non-Bose system. But the schematic for Radio-to-Bose Amp diagrams on 8A-150-8 and 8A-150-9 gave up the details of what comes off the radio's pins 1-4 and 17-20 for the Bose-equipped model. The pinouts are the same as the non-Bose for feeding speakers, but the colors are different on the Bose-equipped model. The description below should be accurate for your Bose-equipped head unit, so long as the FSM was accurate!

Color codes for the factory radio harness for the UZ8 Bose-equipped 97 Pontiac, walking the pins of the head unit's 2-piece harness in order pin-by-pin (unused pins are not listed):
Connector 1
Pin 1: Dark Green: Left Front Speaker Line - to Amp
Pin 2: Tan: Left Front Speaker Line + to Amp
Pin 3: Light Green: Right Front Speaker Line - to Amp
Pin 4: Light Green: Right Front Speaker Line + to Amp
Pin 5: Black: Ground
Pin 6: Yellow: Display Dim from Fuse 8B
Pin 7: Gray: Instrument Panel Lamps Feed
Pin 8: Dark Green: To Power Antenna Relay Feed Coil
Pin 9: Yellow: Ignition Positive Voltage from Fuse 8D
Pin 10: Orange: Battery Power from Fuse 9C
Connector 2
Pin 14: Light Green: Steering Wheel Control Signal
Pin 15: Dark Green: Data Link Diagnostic Signal
Pin 17: Black: Right Rear Speaker Line - to Amp
Pin 18: Dark Blue: Right Rear Speaker Line + to Amp
Pin 19: Brown: Left Rear Speaker Line - to Amp
Pin 20: Brown: Left Rear Speaker Line + to Amp

Enjoy!

If you are using a wiring adaptor then the wires are all colour coded, just hook up the same colours fromt he deck harness to the adaptor harness. In case you need it:

Yellow - constant power
Red - switched power (acc)
Black - ground

Speakers - solid is positive, black stripe is negative
white - left front
grey - right front
green - left rear
purple - right rear

blue - power antenna turn on
blue/white stripe - amp turn on
orange, orange stripe - dimmer
brown - tel mute
green - parking brake
pink - VSS

Thats all sonys have i believe

:hail: Hey club members. Mark here. Thanks for all your help. Many times you guys have helped me to solve the problems with my 97SSE. If you could tell me which wire to tie acc to on the Bose amp side of harness, all will be finished. Sony powered up but no sound thru bose amp. Sony didn't turn Bose amp on. Thanks again

I can get that from the FSM this evening. I didn't realize you were maintaining the factory Bose amplifier.

I don't know if you solved this yet, but there should be an orange wire on the harness from the factory radio going to the factory amp. It's listed as pin 7 on Connector 3 of the radio's harness, connecting to pin A8 on the amplifier's connector. I don't have the Bose system, so this is the best I can do, reading straight from the FSM. It is described in the FSM at the amplifier as "Switched Battery Power". The amplifier also has a main battery power wire that is also orange, at pin A12 on the amplifier's connector. That one does not come from the factory radio, so you want to leave that one connected. The "Switched Battery Power" wire is what you should connect your Sony's ACC+ wire to so that the Bose amp will turn on with the Sony head unit.

Let us know if you get it going!
