All the S2's, really.

And look at what engine is #1.... ;)

It's very nice to see this. I'm happy to see the 3800 made the list.

I like #1 also!

I'm a very hard sell on the ecoboost. Give it ten years of hard use, mileage, and it's repair record and we'll talk. Right now, it's just too early to tell.

I tried not to look smug posting this on my Facebook, since I own one of both #5 and #1. ;)

What about all the VTEC lovers though. They must be having meltdowns that two "low tech" engines are on the list... I'm mean, after all, the LS is a low tech pushrod engine, right?

Some dope commenting says that the 3.6 HF is better than the 3800.

I see nothing wrong with the 2 low tech GM engine examples. They have provided plenty of power and reliable years.

I stopped reading comments on those articles long ago because you always get a bunch of people that have no idea what they are talking about. The best one I remember was an article that mentioned the 2000+ Bonnevilles, and one guy swore that the "i" in SSEi stood for intercooled. He knew because he owned one. Could not stop laughing at that one.

Not only is Jalopnik giving credit to the L36, but it made Ward's 10-best Engines of the 20th Century list, AND it was on the yearly list of best engines for multiple years in a row.

The thing is a tank, it's taken everything I have ever thrown at it. It's been proven by almost everyone in our communities haha

I've been around.. Only come around when I have problems haha. (Somewhat serious ;)) Unfortunately, mostly for the GXP too. :/

Jalopnik also had this to share about my lovely E38. Had A LOT of fun with this piece.

I saw the title, and was hoping the Yamaha 3.0/3.2 from the Taurus SHO's would have made it in there.

The noise that engine made when the secondaries opened was magical, not even counting an indicated 7k rpm redline (fuel cutoff at 7500, to keep from blowing the accessories off of it)

Plus they could put up a respectable service life as well.

I would have liked to see some stage of the Nissan VQ in there too.

I was definitely smug when I reshared this on Facebook. I'm surprised no fan boys yelled blasphemy that the grandma mobile's arthritis motor is on the list before the 2JZ.

Woohoo! I own 2 on the list - not only the L36 in my Regal, but also the bulletproof 4.0 in my Grand Cherokee. Glad to see that one made the list too.

4.0l represent! They covered the ease of rebuilding, but left out the posibility for power. If that engine didnt make the list, I woulda called shananigans!

Glad to see my three favorite motors on this list, obviously the 3800, the LSx's, and the 2JZ.

That is a surprise actually. It was a great engine surrounded by a, well, "car".

Definitely some questionable choices in there...
