Aurora OEM Nav Installed

Just adding to the already extensive list of parts borrowed from the other H/G/K bodied cars that GM produced.

As we all know I have a bunch of parts from the LeSabre, Deville, and Aurora. Overhead Consoles, Interior Lights, Mirrors, Sun Visors, and the list goes on and on.

I picked up this Nav Unit from a Aurora off ebay for SUPER CHEAP. I took a huge gambl with this unit because it was only used in the Aurora....The Nav Units were only offered on the 2002 and 2003 Auroras. They were a VERY limited production, the guys on the Aurora Boards say there are less than 200 Cars produced with the Nav units.

DISCLAMER, I got this unit cheap because the buttons are destroyed (and you can see this in the pics) Good news is that I can get an entire set of replacement buttons, to make this look like new

The Reason for this is mod is that it is PLUG ANG PLAY. Unlike the Delphi Nav units that some members have installed, and wanted to also install, this one was a direct drop in with no wiring or mounting modifications necessary. The Aurora uses that Dock and Lock Radio just like the Bonneville

you can see the exact mounting clips are shared from Bonneville to Aurora

and the exact same Dock and Lock connector and antenna connector. You will see that the Aurora Nav unit has one additional plug for the Nav Antenna shown on the Bottom Left

Some pics of the Unit (remember why I got it so cheap)

I am pleased with this unit and the gamble I took buying this off Ebay. The plans are to get the Red backlighting to match the rest of the lights which is pretty easy with this unit, and the new set of Buttons over the winter while the car is in storage

Is this basically a direct swap in fit? This would be a really neat mod I'd be interested in!

I loved the look of my Delphi NAV, but I never used it because the technology is so outdated. My phone NAV is 100x better. For the same reason when I installed a DVD player in my truck, I went with the model without NAV (AVH-X2500BT) because I knew I wouldn't use it. Our 05 Town & Country has NAV, and its laughable. I applaud you for doing this, but do you really think you'll use it?

I love the OEM look! Years ago after getting my Bonneville, I thought about getting the Delphi unit, but that idea fizzled out into obscurity. It is kind of awesome to know this worked, and was a direct swap.

To be honest Andrew Probably not. I don't go on "trips" with the car, its not my daily obviously and if I drive it is to a show or the track.

The reality is that this was 100% plug and play and works with the Steering Wheel Controls. Its just one more mod that is different and unique that nobody else has

The other reason is that In my opinion it brings the car into the 21st Century as a "Luxury car". Appearance is a lot when entering shows and competing for awards and trophies

I used mine occasionaly when I had it. With the slightly chunky input interface I only wound up using it on longer trips. Par for the course for the mid 2000's, but works well enough and integrates seamlessly with the harness. Audio quality did improve slightly over the stock head unit. Scott Yonkers (yonkerss) now owns it and is taking longer than I did to install it :P

The Aurora nav looks good Pat, blends into the dash real well. The Delphi LCD screen Andrew/I had goes right to the corner of the dash trim bezel, making anybody with OCD twitch a bit.

Looks awesome! I would love to this, simply for the looks, if nothing else.

I like to look, it looks like a factory option when installed.

Did this require programming? I've been confused by these units, because a Buick Lesabre radio will fit in and work without programming, but they're from 1996-2000, but with the same dock-n-lock connector.

Let me know, could be interesting.

From what I understand, you just need someone with a Tech II to make it work with your car.

acutally this unit was not VIN Locked, However this is not common. If you swap in a different raioi Theftlock will activate, and the radio will need programmed.

The only Lesaber radio that will work is the 00-05 Lesabre with the Dock N Lock. However the Buick Radio dosent "flow" with the Bonneville's interior
