Power steering pump might be bad?
Power steering pump might be bad?
So I was hanging out with some friends last night and we got a little bored so I went to go do some cookies in an empty gravel lot. I had never attempted one before and I obviously messed up by keeping the wheel cranked to one side the whole time. Although I'm not 100% positive, and I'm not sure if the car turns easier at random, but it seems like the car is harder to turn while I brake and easier to turn while I accelerate. Could it be the power steering pump that I damaged or could it be something else?
Re: Power steering pump might be bad?
Any car will be harder when braking and easier when accel, especially if the car is not moving.RPMs go up and the pump spins faster=more steering pressure. NOW check the fluid levels 1st and if it is getting VERY heavy and Very light randomly then i would say something with the pump is bad. my WRX STi did that where it would be REALLY heavy out of now where and then get really lite... bad pump.. almost caused me to wrech becasue i want expecting it and turning 1 handed.

Yeah it sounds like I have the same problem you did. Seems almost too easy to turn sometimes and then other times you have to put all of your force into it.

You will also be fighting weight transfer and torque steer.

Oh I thought it was this http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/geekquin ... 52446.html
On a serious note, I think they're still called donuts hahaha, but yes, my Lesabre is always harder to turn if I'm braking vs. on the gas. As long as it doesn't feel like you lost PS completely, I think you're fine, but check the fluid to be safe.
