Issue with switching back to stock mount..Advice.

So, I have had my hockey puck mount for several months now. I love the shift feel, etcetera, however at the end of the day the Bonneville is a luxury car. I feel like I've ruined that effect, and want to go back to stock. Shouldn't be an issue with a 2001 SLE. It seems I only hear of torn mounts on SSEi's. Anyway, I'm afraid when I rebolted the bracket to the transmission they didn't go in perfect. I'm reluctant to ruin the threads by removing the bracket. Thus my question, can I safely jack the engine/trans up high enough to put in the stocker without removing the bracket? I don't know anything about the mechanics of the rear mounts, so I don't want to ruin my whole cradle for something stupid. Any advice?

When my mount failed, I tried to R&R, the new OEM mount. No way that an hydraulic jack would separate the Trans far enough from the frame to get the new mount installed.
I had to purchase the correct deep socket (13mm?) to remove the mounting bracket properly to finish my installation.
At least that was my personal experience.

Apparently you can try to put a boat roller in place of the pucks and it'll offer the same durability without the stupid vibrations. I may be doing that soon too, since as you said... It's a little out of character for the Bonneville.
That being said, I have a brand new OE stock front mount laying around somewhere I could sell you for a couple bucks plus shipping.
Also, an NA Bonneville is perfectly capable of ripping through the factory mount. You should have seen the state of mine....

It is easier to loosen up the metal mount from the engine. Otherwise you need to really jack up and jeopardize maybe breaking something else.

Alright, thanks to all. Looks like I'm stuck. I have a perfectly good stock mount, just looks like I'm not switching back to it. It's good to know I'm not beating the car to hard, since I didn't tear through the stocker.

If you can remove 2 of the 3 bolts that retain the bracket, you may be able to just loosen the third without completely removing it, and then pivot the bracket out of the way enough to wrangle the mount into place. Try to just loosen the one you think is cross-threaded, and then remove the other two...could be worth a try...

Thanks, I'll take that into consideration. I'll let everyone know if I do it, but it may not be until the weather in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is conducive to garage work!
