Straight pipe

Post by SMok3-11 »

I live in MI where there is no emissions test law... further more I know of shop that will straight pipe for $100, also I know it might affect resale except local( not really planning on giving mines up).. anyways I'm concerned about pro's and con's of str8 vs converter, any input will be appreciated. More performance straight or with converter?

I can tell you this, the sound will get old very quickly. And 3800's dont sound very great when too much is done with the exhaust, anyway. I would just swap in a hiflow cat if I were you.

Thanks because I like to ride kind of stealth! I have the hiflow cat in my Advance Auto Parts cart as we speak... Some people told me straight pipe produce more power?

Not much of a difference. It won't get THAT much louder with a straight pipe in place of the cat. Just don't put a straight pipe in place of the res or the mufflers. That'll make it loud and ugly realllll fast.

Also, a catalytic converter is a federal requirement. You can get fined $2500 if caught without one. There is also a bounty last I checked for ratting out those who don't have catalytic converters. Don't straight pipe too much now

Get a cat like I had, a 'hot rod' cat, with very low restriction. You'll also need to get your codes tuned out for not having a cat, otherwise your service engine soon light will be on...
