Pulley Boys MPS hub removal plate

Post by Backhoe »

Hopefully someone can advise me about the Pulley Boys MPS removal plate. I have the opportunity to pick-up a used Pulley Boys MPS hub with 2 pullies, a 3.5 and a 3.6, but the parts are currently installed on another car.

The thing is, apparently the PB setup requires a special removal plate to pull the hub.

http://www.pulleyboys.com/store/product ... t=2&page=1

It shows inside diameter of the plate is 1-1/4, so I'm guessing you may have to remove the pulley first, and then work the hub with the puller. Could this plate be used with a puller from another company to do the job?

Instead of this:

I want to use something similar to this:

Thanks

Don't mess around with the pullers that don't grab the entire pulley, they love to destroy the pulley. Get the ZZP one or rent it from me: http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/8 ... uller.aspx

Don't get me wrong, but I was hoping for some PB specific info on this.

Is the Pulley Boys MPS removed with the pulley installed? I installed my current ZZP press-on with a puller similar to the Thrasher, and it worked great, but the removal plate for the PB setup has such a small I.D. that I assumed it pulled the hub alone, as the plate appears to be a flat faced, and not milled to recieve a pulley, although I have been wrong before.

Thanks, by the way, I finally got my BCS :canada: .

They all need a plate like that for removal.

Removal plate ordered, I'll figure it out when it gets here.

Thanks.

Update: I went ahead and just ordered Intense's plate for the MPS, theirs was a 1.25 inch inside diameter compared to Pulley Boys plate which had a 1.4 inch ID.
