buffer/polisher

So I'm in the market now to buy a good buffer/polisher and everything I will need to detail my car..
What are some good brands or places to get?
What do you guys/girls recommend?

Good idea to start doing some research on a few forums.
www.autopia.org and
www.autogeek.net have excellent forums dedicated to detailing. I purchased all my goodies from autogeek and have been very happy with everything and have been turning some amazing results.
You really should spend a week or two at least doing some in-depth research on the products and machines and how to use them properly. You will be much happier in the end.
I went with Menzerna polishes and an Ultimate Detail Machine random orbital buffer. Pads are very important as well.
What is your approximate budget?

I'm not to sure on how much I'm looking at spending. I mean obviously I'm looking for a good machine to clean my car without spending 500 on just the machine. Or is that what I will be looking at?

I could sell you my UDM to save you some money off the new price. I quickly moved up to the rotary and only used my UDM on maybe 2 cars. Either way, this is the type of machine you want to start off with. Very safe and very effective.

I have a Makita variable speed I got from Amazon. Very nice machine. Orbital buffers are safer though if you have never used a buffer though so you don't burn through your paint if you get a little heavy handed or ramp the RPMs up too much and spend too much time in one area.

X3. I was researching good buffers a while back and this one kept coming up constantly. Fairy expensive when new, but one can be had for relatively cheap off ebay (at least thats what I'm going to do once I get done with the repaint
).
