Front Drivers side transmission mount: Anchor vs AC/Delco

Its tempting to save the money on the front transmission mount( the one with the piston) as the Anchor part cost $30 vs $100 for the AC/Delco.

Reading the archives/internet posts- I came across some mention that the holes on the Anchor part may sometimes be off (depending on the batch) and not line up.

Can anyone voice their experience with the Anchor part. Did it work out for your application or was there a fitment problem.

Thanks

Ok so I'll talk to myself-as usual.

Ordered the AC/Delco part.

Do it once, do it right.

Not on the 92-99's ;)

The Anchor mount is questionable. The ones I've and a few others on here have bought never had all three mounting holes line up properly. You could always get any two to line up, but never all three.

Actually I did come up with a mod to strengthen the OEM style mount. If you look down from the engine bay you will notice an open space between the mount bracket/transmission and engine. I cut a half moon shaped piece of rubber sourced from the top half of a sway bar bushing. Jammed it real good down into that opening and drove it into place with a hammer and copper pipe I had lying around. That took care of the horrendous front end clunk the bad mount was causing. I plan on wedging in a similar shaped piece of rubber before bolting down the new mount. No question that this will strengthen and make the replacement mount last longer. That little piece of rubber certainly has a positive effect as I can now accelerate and the engine feels like its floating on a cloud.

An Anchor mount with a grade 8 bolt through it would work well IMO.

In regards to the design of this mount- it is puzzling to say the least. The rear rubber portion of the mount sits up on a riveted rod and is prone to break over time - flopping around. Who ever designed this mount should be banished for life.
