My 1994 Bonneville jerks and bucks just around 2000 RPMs while in drive. I can put the car in park and the engine runs fine. It just jerks and bucks while in drive. I can hold the brake while in Drive or Reverse and give it gas and it jerks on and off. I changed the fluid and filter in transmission, thinking this would help didn’t. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff

Instincts tell me it's the ignition coils or their control module. Any engine light action?

I really don't know. My scanner want work on the 1994 model..Would the coil just act up under a load. I can run the engine in park and it runs fine. Put it in gear and drive it starts jerking ,I speed up sometimes starts running better, I slow down around 2000 Rpms starts jerking??

It's possible you have ignition issues (as mentioned) or a bad/dirty MAF. Best bet is to check the plugs, or outright change the plugs and wires. The techinfo section has a how-to for checking ignition coils. And the MAF sensor can be testes by disconnecting it and seeing if the problem remains (it will not run very good, but drive it anyway and see what happens).

So does the service engine light come on?

I am ashamed to say what it was, it was a plug wire. I just assumed that it was not a wire because it just acted up only when I put in drive. I could put it in park and the motor would run fine. Therefore, I thought for sure it was the transmission, which has 152k on it. O well lesson learn..However, I would like to say thanks for all the feed-backs, these feed-backs got me thinking about plug wires and coil packs. Therefore, I stopped by Advance Store on the way home from work. I thought well I would only be out about 30 dollars if it did not fix it. I put a meter on each wire, when I took them off and guess what one would not even read at all…Thanks Jeff
