I saw this on their website: http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/6 ... ntake.aspx How hard do you think this would be to install in to a Bonneville? It says it can be modified, but what do you have to mod?

It wouldn't seal correctly behind the headlight as the headlight structure and shape is different, so it would almost be a hot air intake. Why not get the INTENSE tried and true method? Or if you are concerned with looks, try this...

You can get it in just about any color or finish. And for cheaper than the ZZP.

I really want something that has a box around the cone rather than the fender well. Idk how good my fender well is sealed from water, so my luck I'd suck up water and screw up my engine with a fender well intake. Is the Intense CAI a box one, or a FWI too?

The INTENSE one is one of the better ways to go, I've had it on 2 cars, for at least 3 years, and never had any issues. As long as you don't drive down a massively flooded road, the water won't get in there.

I drove into a puddle that submerged half my cone, nothing happened. You'll be fine.

Well I got an email back from ZZP and this is what they said: "There is a slight gap at the radiator support, and you can just use self tapping screws to attach the lower section. Other than that, it fits pretty well."

That's BS. I know of at least one member who bought one to try, and it was just different. There's a reason 90% of us run FWI's. They work.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how hard is it to install one of these FWI's then? 1 being simple, and 10 being really hard.

On that scale it's a 2 or so. Very easy with basic hand-tools. There are several great write-ups around about it. Just search FWI and you'll find a lot of good info.

Okay. As for the IAT, can that be extended as well, or will the molded hole have to work?

You can extend it with a harness. I have mine extended into the well on my car right beside the cone filter. I have the IAT shoved into a PCV breather so it's protected from the elements. I took off the coupler that has the IAT bung in it and bolted the tubing right on my throttle body.

I didn't have to extend my IAT. I just put it so it was a little more towards the back of the piping. I didn't go far, only about 1in back from straight up. I don't think it will impact temps from the exhaust.

Installation is a breeze. I think you need a flat screwdriver, a ratchet, and a couple sockets (plus stuff for removing the tire). The most difficult part is marking and drilling pilot holes for the bolts for the PCM tray. Well, the only other hard part is if your wheel is rusted on like mine was....but I'm not counting that.

Does this make it noticeably different or is it just for precaution kind of stuff

I did mine in about an hour, around 5 years ago. Keep in mind, the me 5 years ago could barely take a throttle body off.

Now, I didn't drill any holes for the PCM tray (used the power of zip ties). I know, not the best method, but the me of today still isn't very good with power tools (almost cutting a finger off keeps me and power tools on a non-speaking basis).

I also have the extended IAT harness, but have yet to actually do anything with it yet. The IAT on mine is still in the location provided by the Intense coupler. I was going to put mine somewhere in the pipe, but I actually like Joe's idea.

I bought one of the FWI systems from Intense just a few weeks ago. Today I took it off my car and sent it back for a refund. It was louder than I like. For $179 I felt the funds could go to other performance mods. However, it seemed to help (some), but in my opinion not $179 worth!

I followed procedures on this site and gutted my stock airbox and it seemed to provide just as good results, but way cheaper! I'm not trying to sway you, its your money and time, and it is pretty easy to install if you can at least snap a socket on a ratchet. Best of luck to you and I hope it performs the way you want.

I don't know what I want to do. I'm not really too keen on tearing up my air box and if I want to sell it they my question me as to why its like that.
