Gapping cooler plugs in prep for pulley drop

Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

Gapping cooler plugs in prep for pulley drop

Post by Backhoe »

I got some NGK TR6's, 1 step cooler than the TR55's. They were a second choice, but im a little pressed for time at the moment. Should I gap to factory, for the S2, or something based on mods. Basically headers, cat delete, gutted box (temp) 180 stat, and a 3.4. I also have 94 octane here.

Cheers

I don't recall what the factory gap calls for, but I always run my plugs a .060" on my coil pack equipped vehicles. However, the temp of the plug will not have a bearing on the gap you use. The actual difference comes in with how much heat the plug aids in removing from the cylinder. So whatever you happened to use before should be fine.

Of course, I'm open to being corrected.
I have a Bonneville, it's white and N/A!

Maybe I'll go out and finish the fronts, and do the rear after I check back here on the topic.

Thanks

I agree, stock .060". There is no benefit/loss to a smaller gap, unless you're running high boost or nitrous.
Bye Bye:

Done! Cylinder #1 was actually the worst of the lot with the fans swapped to opposite sides.

Ready to gas up on 94 and head up-island, thanks guys.
