P0420

When the engine is cold the car jerks and misfires, but once it warms up it drives fine anyone familiar with this symptom? I was thinking plugs and wires but It wouldnt only do it when the car is cold it would do it all the time. Since the code is P0420 I was thinking the cat but it wouldnt do it only when the engine is cold right?
