Supercharger

Hey guys. I got an idea about an inter cooler on a super charged car. I know how they work with turbos but would it work? If I take a intercooler and run it before the S/C would it cool the air? It would go air filter, I/C, to S/C. So just put the I/C into the mix and then cooler air?

Just an idea but would it work?

They make intercoolers that sit between the supercharger and the lower intake manifold that cool the air as it is forced into the cylinders. I'm not so sure they make one if it's for the 93 in your info, but you could fabricate one yourself. Intense racing and Zzp, as well as a few other companies make them for the series 2 L67s, and people generally see a very nice gain with other supporting mods. Check out Randy's build in the performance and brainstorming thread, there is some info about his intercooler and how he machined it for his LIM. http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 7-120.html This page of the thread also has some pics of his intercooler setup, and how he is going to route his PCV for it, but there are pictures of it none the less. He's also routing it to a front mount to help cool it rather than going with a liquid intercooler I believe.

There were quite a few old members that had intercooled series 1 L67s, such as Willren, but he isn't on here much more. I do believe that most if not all the series 1 stuff has to be made custom.

The intercooler needs to come after the S/C, as that's where the heat is made.

No one makes one for the Series 1. A member here was working on one for a long time, but I'm not sure how much he really got out of it in the end...

The intercooler can't make air any cooler than the outside air. And the intake air is already that temperature until it runs through the supercharger.

Like said above, there is a lot of custom work (machining of the LIM, etc) is needed, and other headaches. Your better bet would be a 94-95 SSEi supercharger and throttle body and MAF (bigger inlet and TB, epoxy coated rotors), Series II L67 fuel pressure regulator, and a tune (like Sinister Performance). There are other details on that too.

Thanks for the input guys. Its people like this on fourms that make me come back and ask questions.
