I was sitting in my college today and an interesting feat crossed my mind, a L67 top swap on a series II camaro or firebird. Would it be possible?
1999 Pontiac Bonneville SE- Stored -All stock, Sony CDX-GT570UP HU w/ Scosche HD 6.5"'s front/Alpine S 6x9 rear, 153,000 miles
1996 Pontiac Bonneville SE- Now a parts car - HAI, Muffler Delete, Summit Y-pipe, 250,000 miles

The hard part is makeing the 180* turn for the intake/throttle body.

Thats why most go turbo.

There's been some talk of sourcing the rwd Holden parts but I don't know how feasible that actually is

If I ever get one, that's what I plan on doing. Something about an L67 mated to a manual transmission and RWD.

I believe it could be possible to use a Roush intake tube from a blown Mustang to make that curve...

You will need to swap the trans out for a T56, plain Jane T5 won't hold.

An L67 top swap would be sweet, as long as it doesn't get too difficult and expensive. If the new 3.6 LFX V6 is swappable, that would be the way to go haha. Probably big in price though. 323 HP on a n/a v6, Unbelievable. AND 30 mpg. Would love to have the 2013 Camaro RS with one of these in it.

LOL. And sorry, a 3800 is not an efficient platform for building power. Sure it's cool, but I'd rather be "mainstream" and reliably fast than "off the wall" in a common platform and worry about it every time I drove it...

For what it is the 3800 is a good motor, and in cars like ours they work great. But if there's an option for a V8 in a "sports" car, i say that's the way to go... But I'm biased. :P

Good group grief guys, every time this idea comes up we get the same stupid responses. He didn't ask if you would rather him do a v8 swap he simply wanted info about l67 ideas. Why do we have to shoot his idea down so much?

Well, then the thread wouldve been done after Andrews first reply. Its been done, ususally requires an Aussie blower case. However With the amount of effort required, the group saw it necessary to inform OP that his time and money would go a lot further with a V8 or even a turbo V6.

I would actually go with a centrifugal charger if it were me. Thats been done before.

Ill see if I cant find a thread in one of the V6 Fbody forums I joined up(btw, Pontiac Bonneville Club is far and away the best/most organized forum im on lol). He was cutting the SC inlet down and an angle and was gonnea weld his own turn around on, IDK if he ever finished.

And yes the Aussie parts would be the way to go. I found one on Ebay awhile ago and they guy wanted $500.

As good as the 3800 is, it isn't the engine of choice for swapping anymore. Parts are getting harder to find, the 3800 community has been absorbing the L26/L32 for about 4 years now as better and cheaper alternatives to the L36/L67, and once those are gone, then what?

I hate saying it, but the H and W bodies are dying off. The F-body V6s are also dying off, and I can make a safe bet that 10 years from now anyone will be hard pressed to find a working one in good shape. If the 4th gens are to survive, a new engine will have to be sourced.

That said, the 3.6 would be the ideal choice for a V6, but with all that work involved, shoving in an LS engine would be cheaper and much more supported.
