This past weekend i saw what appeared to be some wedged under my car upon closer inspection if was the rotted piece of what was left of the floor with the battery hanging halfway out.

Sounds like you had a leaky battery for a while. You'll have to get a piece patched in, either welded or riveted...

Yeah, I've never heard of this happening before, lol. Haro's on vacation now, but I'd see if he could cut that patch out of a good car that he scraps to get patched in.

Well, I might be the second. Mine's working its way through. I'm guessing either a battery, or water, leaked with the previous owner. When I got the car, and first checked the battery (which that one wasn't leaking), there was a small hole under the battery. Now, it's about the size of a business card. I'm sure the water leaks I've had in the car have contributed to it.
So now I'm trying to come up with a method to fix it before I lose by battery on the interstate. I don't own a welder, nor can I weld, so I have a nice conundrum on my hands.

Stop the rust(cut it out) then try your hand at fiberglassing, who cares what it looks like. If you wanted to try fiberglassing it would be a good place.

I had this happen to my car years ago. I cleaned up the rust and cut a piece of sheet metal a bit larger then the hole and jb welded it in place. 4+ years with no issues. The battery i had then wasnt leaking either my guess was a previous battery leaked and was never properly cleaned up

Yeah, the sheet metal with JB weld sounds like the route to go.

It's not like it's in a place where the looks matter.

I'd use some rivets as well, and some seam-sealer. That way it has a mechanical connection to the surrounding metal.

i think im gonna get a cutout from a jy car and have my body shop guy put it in you have to imagine my hole is bigger than the battery itself. theres probably gonna b a nice size cutout around the area coming out too. for now i got it held from underneath with a shelf bracket drilled in to the bottow of the pass side floor pan and a few heavy rubber bunge cords and a well placed length of wood.

I think the vapers are anough to cause rust I had a small hole in mine I had to tigar hair. Then I put plastic over repaired area to keep it from getting the acid on it again. I like to fill all my batterys once a summer is how I noticed mine. Dry cell battery would be nice for these body type cars but they cost so much.

I doubt it was acid. I've had and inch of water back there several times. I think it was the drain tubes from the sunroof leaking or maybe a crazy trunk leak? Make sure your drain hole doesn't get plugged too.
