project: 2000 SLE (silver)

I knew this was going to be on the CoPart auction today, but I have enough projects right now that I really didn't want it unless it went for cheap. I thought for sure the bids would go over my $1000 limit, but suprisingly I won it for $700. My initial plan was to part it out to build up my inventory a little bit, but when I picked it up, it's in too good of shape to part it. Its a 2000 SLE with 180k.

Here are some pics:

As soon as I got it home, I pulled off the door and went straight to work.

Installed the new door and also pounded out the dents on the fender as much as I could.

Then I pulled off the front fender.

and installed a good one.

Threw in some headlights and a side view mirror

I was pretty pumped to get the body work basically done on the same day I purchased it. Everything I put on the car so far was just parts from my inventory. It still needs quite a few things. It will need a new hood, a shift kit to help with the P1811, it needs a fuel level sender, an oil pressure sender, the rear shocks are SHOT, needs some new tires on the rear and a good cleaning.

Nice Andrew. You really brought it back quick. You gonna sell it with cleared headlights?

You sir, are officially OBSESSED. Good thing for all the rest of us whom happen to need that obscure part that no one seem to have anymore!!! Youre the best... but you still have a little Bonneville OCD lol

Ah. Okay. It's gonna clean up nice. That interior has SO much dust.

Did some more work today. I had some new (used & matching) tires put on the rear, and also polished up all the wheels. I put some used shocks on the rear. I installed a new oil pressure sending unit. I fixed the airbag on the steering wheel. I cleaned up all the door panels and dash pieces. I also put the SLE badge back on.

Carpets before (currently drying)

I need to start going to your garage sales when I need a car...just gotta catch it before you strip it apart. Judging by the last few posts, I got about 1 hr between pick up to start time to catch ya before you have something fixed or stripped apart on them lol

I will say, I went there yesterday, and it's pretty awesome pulling up to his house and seeing 5 Bonnevilles sitting there.

His basement must feel like IKEA for Bonneville's. All the parts are there, just needs some assembly. :P

Not to bad for a 2-day flip.

Carpet clean and dry

Mats are decent

Interior all back together and looking great.

I can't locate a hood in color locally, and it would cost me $150-200 for hood + $200 in paint, so I think I'm going to leave the hood alone. It really doesn't look that bad.

Just need a windshield and waiting for the new fuel level sensor and it's done.

What's wrong with the windshield? And *dang*, those swoopies don't even look like the same wheels when they're clean. Those mats came out better than I thought as well.

Windshield is cracked all the way across. Windshield is getting replaced tomorrow for $250.

Looks awesome for 2 days.

Have you considered getting a PDR kit and learning on cars like this?

Ehh, I don't know. Everyone that I've talked to said its more of an artform and takes years of practice. I'll probably stick to my rubber mallet and pieces of wood.

That's what I've always thought about it.. I was just thinking when you come across cars like this where you might leave a couple dents here and there (or white cars with door dings) you could potentially pick up some of the skill.
