turn signal/ wiper/ blinker switch replacement help needed.

Post by 88bonnsse »

i am in need to change the turn signal switch on my 95, its all messed up.. i cant get the headlights to turn on unless i take 30 mins to play with the turn signal lever. and i cant get the high beams to work either.

and where the lever connects to the lil metal rod that turns on the headlights is busted...

i been looking all over and i cant find a description on how to change the lever and fix everything..

i cant drive the car in the night time because i can play with the swicth to get the headlights on but when its time to come back home they most likely wont work.

can anybody tell me how to do this ? and i hope i dont need to change the steering comumn..

Do you have a replacement lever to go back in? I'm not sure about repairing one, but removal is pretty easy, If it's like my 98, you remove the little box cover under the lever, dis-connect the clip, and pull the lever straight out of the column.

I think the turn signal switch is a bit more involved, as i believe you have to access the interior of the column, but I'm sure someone else more knowledgeable than myself will have the info you need. I'll check my FSM when I get to work today, now I'm curious to know myself.

Unfortunately it sounds as if yours is a fair bit different than mine, my light controls (manual) are on the end of my dash, not in the column, even tho the Bonnie is covered in this manual. I'm still learning how to use this book, but from what I see, you're going to need some reference materials if you attempt this.

Hopefully somebody can provide some details for your car, since it will most likely involve wheel/column removal, and there is a TON of stuff crammed in there. The air bag also needs to be disabled if you have it.

Have you sourced the part yet? I'm betting the old one may be done for, they take a shoot load of abuse sometimes.
This one I think,

A thread title specific to what you need eg: "95 columm diagram" or something might garner you some more help, sorry I couldn't help more :dontknow:

Check here. Very complete. I replaced a turn signal switch on my '99. You'll need a steering wheel puller (about $20 at Harbor Freight). It's tedious, but take your time and it goes well. The hardest part was getting to the plug at the base of the steering column.

DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE WORKING ON ANY AIRBAG CAR!

instead of pulling steering wheel n dropping column. is there a safe way to wire the headlights fused with a relay directly from battery to a on off switch on my dash.. my car is coming up for inspection.
